Magnetic Audio Workflow
Super 8 Demo
Load Film:
With take-up and supply reels installed, the film is passed over the multi-format rollers, the cleaning silicone rollers, and through the 8mm gate and perforation sensor. It is then loaded through the optional Mag Sound module to capture the audio from this Super 8 film.
Configure Software, Scan, and Capture Sound:
Before starting the scan, all of the quality, color, speed, and output file settings can be configured in AxionDirect™. When recording audio from a magnetic track, Low Flutter Mode can be optionally enabled to minimize wow and flutter during recording, before the SMDS post-processing removes any remaining speed variations. Frame and audio capture can be scheduled to begin at a specific time, footage, or frame number.
Process Output:
After scanning, the frames and audio are loaded into AxionFlow™ for final output processing. Audio sync, frame area, and image stabilization are all processed here to give you output files that are ready to edit or share.
Optical & Silent Workflow
16mm OST Demo
Load Film:
The Axion Scanner can use reels or platters on the take-up and supply. Here, a platter is used for take-up, while a reel is used for supply. If a Mag Sound module is installed, but not needed in the current scan, it can be bypassed as shown.
Configure Software and Scan:
Once again, settings are configured in AxionDirect™ for color correction, etc. Optical Soundtracks are processed in AxionFlow™ after the scan, so no settings are needed here. Simply set the Region of Interest to include the soundtrack area and scan. Once the scan is complete, begin the fast rewind mode as shown here.
Process Output and Sync Sound:
The orange box and dashed lines are set to define the optical soundtrack area and frame lines, while the red box defines the output image area. Audio is extracted from the images and synced to the final output video in a single step, or output separately as its own file.
