The Axion scanner offers professional quality scans of 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm film at the most affordable price of any multi-format motion picture film scanner. Whether you're in filmmaking, archival and library services, or digitization and transfer services, the Axion scanner is the most accessible way to take full control of your film scanning process.

The optical system boasts 4k native resolution with up to 12-bit depth per color channel. The dimmable, diffused, full-color RGB light source keeps your largest color correction adjustments in the analog domain, preserving digital bit depth for latitude in post processing.

Optical soundtracks are processed with our next-generation audio processing algorithm. Simply define the soundtrack area in the image and high-quality audio is processed and synced with your output video file. 

Magnetic audio is also supported with the optional Mag Sound modules. Available for 8mm or 16mm film gauges, the Mag Sound Modules use our Speed-Matched Dynamic Sampling (SMDS) technology to virtually eliminate wow and flutter from magnetic audio recordings. 

The sprocketless, reel-driven design and adjustable automatic acceleration and tension control ensure smooth, continuous motion with no driving force applied to the image area or perforations of the film. The non-laser scatter-light optical registration, in conjunction with the global-shutter camera, allow for steady and reliable frame capture while the film remains in constant motion. The film gate features a curved profile and adjustable alignment bearings to minimize warp and weave in shrunken films. 

Reels or platters up to 16" in diameter can be used, accommodating up to 2300 ft of film at a time, and the included quick-release retainers make changing reels quick and easy. Washable silicone rollers help to remove dirt from both sides of the film before reaching the film gate. 

The optional Wet Scan module brings new life to worn out old films by minimizing the visibility of base scratches during scanning. High-quality, medical-grade peristaltic pumps give precise control over flow rate, and a built-in drying fan helps ensure that your film is dried before winding onto the take-up reel.
